I am from west Texas and growing up I didn’t really feel the pumpkin vibes until the week before Halloween; most likely because it was still ninety degrees outside and we had rolling plains instead of corn fields. This one week my mom would buy all five of us girls a mini pumpkin to draw on and a large family pumpkin for us to carve. We all had our costumes chosen and the biggest event around was Halloween on the square. It had everything a small town ten year old could ever imagine. But now we live in central North Carolina and I feel the pumpkin vibes at the same time Starbucks starts making PSL’s. We get our first cold front the end of September and by mid-October the jackets are out when the sun goes down. There are corn mazes and pumpkin patches and talk of State Fair food in the air.
